Abstract

Amelogenesis Imperfecta: From Diagnosis to Full-Mouth Rehabilitation

Developmental enamel defects can profoundly compromise dental function, esthetics, and long-term oral health, often necessitating complex prosthodontic intervention. Amelogenesis imperfecta represents one of the most challenging of these conditions, requiring careful diagnosis and coordinated long-term treatment planning.

The management of patients with amelogenesis imperfecta is complex and typically involves the integration of several dental disciplines, including prosthodontics, orthodontics, periodontics, and occasionally oral surgery. This presentation will discuss the diagnostic process, common clinical manifestations, and associated conditions of AI. Particular emphasis will be placed on treatment timing, decision-making at the individual tooth level versus the full-mouth level, and the prosthodontic strategies used to restore function, esthetics, and long-term stability. Clinical examples will illustrate the staged rehabilitation process and the practical challenges encountered in treating these patients.
